Doubts about Those Who Investigated the Sodalitium?

Contacted by InfoVaticana, Alejandro Bermudez, a journalist and former member of the now disbanded Sodalitium Vitae Christianae (SVC), told InfoVaticana.com that "it is my personal conviction that Francis' opinion [of the SVC] has been seriously distorted by Monsignor Jordi Bertomeu.

Monsignor Bertomeu assisted Archbishop Charles Scicluna in July 2023 in investigating allegations of various kinds of "abuse" against former members of the SCV.

According to Bermudez, from the beginning of the investigation, Bertomeu "proved to be in a corrupt relationship with media and personalities hostile to the community, whom I hold responsible for what I consider to be an injustice and an immoral act".

Bermudez hopes that the members of the Sodalitium, or ex-Sodalitium, "will resist the latest act of injustice that Bertomeu is preparing".

"For my part, as a journalist and concerned party, I intend to continue investigating Bertomeu, especially into the possible trafficking of information and influence, as well as the questionable morality of his former relationship with the current nuncio to Peru, Monsignor Fortunato Rocco Gualterio," said Bermudez.
