Outlawed soldiers of the Church Militant (3)

Part III: Keeping the Faith

In 2018 Fr. Hewko, who personally knew Fr. Wiktor Mroz and administered to him the Extreme Unction preached the following in his sermon for the First Saturday of May (source):
“The Bull, Quo Primum - let me quote a little bit from it because many priests since Vat II, many priests like Fr. Victor Mroz in Buffalo, he had it hung up everywhere in his church and chapel. In the basement even in the bathroom was the Bull Quo Primum. Because that was his only defence against his Franciscan provincial who tried to force him to say the new mass. He refused and he was kicked out of the Franciscans. Think of that. He had for his spiritual Father St. Maximilian Kolbe in Poland for 14 yrs. Fr. Victor Mroz was one of those priests who went to Japan and discovered many Japanese Catholics in the mountains of Japan who had not seen a priest for almost 200 years.... This good priest, Fr. Victor Mroz that was his defence.”
In 1967, Father Mróz, coming from Japan found himself in Canada, where he worked, among other things, as vicar of the Holy Trinity Parish in Montreal and – from March 1968 to October 1969 (cf. franciszkanie.org/kanada/mswsm/historia.htm) – as chaplain of the Polish Mission of St. Adalbert in Montreal. In the fall of 1969, he moved to the United States, to Buffalo, where he pastored a Franciscan parish. It was the period of the "spring of the Council ," when progressives, drawing on the documents and "spirit" of “Vatican II”, undertook bolder and bolder "experiments" in various religious fields, bringing ruin to the Catholic life.
In the vanguard of progress was the press, nominally Catholic but in the hands of modernists. As a Franciscan and spiritual son of Father Kolbe, Father Mróz knew the importance of the press and lamented the state of the "so-called Catholic Press." As he wrote some years later:
“The so-called Catholic Press of today is like a very sick man, dying from massive infection and heavy poisoning with such deadly poisons as Modernism, Liberalism, Secularism, Naturalism, Ecumenism, etc. If you happen to have some old issues of Catholic periodicals before the Second Vatican Council and compare them with the present-day issues of the same periodicals or magazines, you will see the difference. The title will be the same but the spirit, the contents are different. You will find in them diluted, or partial Catholicism, mixed with many strange ideas of collaboration with anything and everything which is alien to Catholic spirit and teaching before Vatican Council II. You will never find that strong will to defend the truth, to fight against the evil forces destroying our Church and our society. There is a complete lack of intrepidity, of apologetic zeal, of any attempt to attack the enemy”.
“If you happen to see an article on such a subject as Communism, Masonry, Protestantism, etc., it will always be weak and watered down lest our “separated brethren” be offended by reading it. In fact, you will never find in the so-called Catholic Press of today any valuable article against Communism, Freemasonry, Secret Societies, etc., nor against any heresy for that matter. The reason for the inability of the Catholic Press to resist the influence of the secularist world around us is the false spirit of adaptation and tolerance, of freedom of conscience and religious liberty, introduced into the Church by Vatican Council II. The Church lost her identity by extending her hand to the “Prince of this world,” that is satan, together with his human cohorts of secret and open societies. Collaboration with them means complete destruction of Catholic Faith, morals, dogmas, discipline, Tradition and even the whole structure of the Church. Our Church is of Divine origin and has nothing to do with the “Prince of this world” except to war against him. Unless the Church is militant, she cannot thrive and flourish.”
“Secular humanists are transforming our schools, our institutions, our government, according to their own atheistic dogmas… The present-day “Catholic” Press doesn’t differ much from the secular press. It has accepted a “live and let live” attitude with the secularist world. Instead of defending our God-given Faith against the onslaught of its enemies and leading Catholic readers toward the true ultimate goals of life, “our” press wastes its time and means on appeasing the enemies of Catholicism… In this sinful attempt to accommodate itself with the neo-pagan society surrounding us, the “Catholic” Press suffers from an inferiority complex which often leads to a slavish imitation of the secular press.”
“We cannot put too much emphasis on the role of the mass communications media in the secularizing and dechristianizing of the world today. The secular press, including radio and TV, has become an important force in the war against God and the Catholic Church. Never before has so much power been so easily available for upgrading or degrading the human spirit, depending on the merits or demerits of the ones who manipulate the media. The mass media of communication is becoming the sole power for shaping the minds and actions of humanity. The owners of these agencies, who often are anti-Christian and strong believers in the false “One World without God” religion, are exercising their evil influence to undermine and destroy the Catholic Church. Their victory would seem to be assured if the “Catholic” Press of today does not become truly Catholic again, that is, the staunch, uncompromising defender of truth that it once was.” (source)

The above resonates with a letter from November 1970 (quoted at semperfidelisetparatus.blogspot.com/2013/02/o- … ), in which Father Wiktor writes in Polish which some bitter sarcasm: " The more the Catholic Church 'reforms' itself, the more it becomes similar to the 'Reformed church,' that is, the Protestant church, and even moves further to the left, because one can already hear among Protestants admonishing each other not to fall as low as Catholics and praying for the conversion of Catholics, and soon to have missions in Catholic countries… Yesterday, in the Courier Express, a secular daily, there was news on page three that the Catholic Church was establishing close ties with Jews, oh yes. It is already in agreement with the communists, or at least moving in their direction; there is no struggle with the Freemasons, because they are, after all, brothers. Protestants are already envied for their perfection and their liturgy and customs are being aped. Only with the devil himself remains, with whom the Church officially has no ecumenical relations, but if the ecumenical movement continues at this pace, and new theologians continue to go deeply into doctrine, I am absolutely certain that we will soon have the best possible relations with the devil, nay, we will even unite in the unity of religion, peace, and love.
However, the poor devil is already losing ground, because most modern theologians do not recognize the eternity of hell, and so he must unite with these theologians, for what will become of his state and his rule? Just a few more theological and ecumenical meetings, and the devil will gain his place in the liturgy, as a powerful spirit of defiance and progress, the main patron of modernism. And the protector of those priests with long hair who foam at the mouth because of their exhaustion in the fight for the right to marry and the abolition of celibacy. For now—according to all the "modern" works of Catholic theologians—Protestants are OK, and everything that has been Catholic so far is old hat, is backwardness, superstition, bigotry. The Rosary is for them no different from Chinese prayer wheels, paintings and works of art are an abomination, the rottenness of clerical and secular capitalists. But soon the Catholic reformers will go further: because who will stop them from exploring? After all, penalties, curses, and censorship against authors, including clergy, have been abolished.”

Father Victor perhaps did not foresee that the post-conciliar system would apply penalties, even excommunications, but only to those who faithfully adhered to Tradition, declaring a schism among those who wanted to adhere to the Catholic authority of the Petrine Office, in defiance of conciliarists, collegial sovietists and democrats of all stripes.
The desire to persevere with the Holy Mass in the traditional Roman Rite and reject the novelties of the "spirit of the times" resulted in Fr. Wiktor deciding to leave, after his adventures with other friars described aptly above by Fr. Hewko, the Franciscan parish in Buffalo on November 25, 1977, at 11:00 a.m. (source: wordpress.com/2017/12/orcm-jan-1978.pdf ) and join the ORCM – the Orthodox Roman Catholic Movement initiated by Fr. Francis Fenton under the influence of the Jesuit cristero Fr. Joaquin Saenz y Arriaga (d. 1976), author of the book La nueva iglesia montiniana (New Montinian Church) for which the Conciliar Church proclaimed him excommunicated. Fr. Wiktor celebrated the traditional Mass in the Buffalo area and founded the chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary. He also gave lectures and published texts in the OCRM bulletin, such as the one from April 1978 – “ 'Ecumenism' leads to apostasy”, in which he wrote ( cf. wordpress.com/2017/12/orcm-april-1978.pdf ):
„Throughout the ages, until the end of the pontificate of Pope Pius XII in 1958, the successors of the Apostles - Popes, bishops, priests, the whole teaching body of the Church- taught the same truths revealed by Jesus Christ and with the same unbending firmness, with one Council after another, nineteen of them, cutting off every sprout of adverse doctrine of human origin. The heresies were quickly condemned and the Articles of Faith were again and again confirmed… The Church sought no compromise of the Faith with heretics or false prophets… No Pope ever tried to "open the window" or "accommodate the Church to modern times." Each effort to make concessions to the fallen nature of man or to the world was met with strong opposition offered by the teaching body and leadership in the Church, mindful of such strong warnings as that of the Apostle St. John: "Anyone who advances and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ is not of God. He who abides in the doctrine, he has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house, or say to him welcome. For he who says welcome is sharer in his evil works." (2 John, 7-11). And those who would like to compromise the doctrine on account of "ecumenism," St. Paul candidly asks: "What fellowship hath light with darkness?" (II Cor. 6:14) After the death of Pope Pius XII in 1958 we see for the first time in the history of the Church a sharp contradiction to this rule: Preserve the Truth at any cost. Under the pressure of the "ecumenical movement," many teachers, theologians, even top leaders of the Catholic Church, including Pope Pa ul VI, envision the utopian unity of mankind under a One World Church and a One World Government. This "ECUMANIA" is not a mere dream of a few radical priests and nuns, but it has affected already the majority of clergymen in many countries, especially the younger segments of the Catholic clergy. Certainly one of the main objectives of the Second Vatican Council was to promote "unity." Therefore, all kinds of Protestant and non-Catholic representatives were invited to participate…
For the first time in the history of the Church the heretics and schismatics were sitting together with the Catholic hierarchy, deliberating the future course of that Divine Institution, the Catholic Church. No wonder that the outcome of such a Council was a sheer catastrophe!...
Most of the ecumenical zealots believe that, in order to promote unity with Protestants, Jews, Communists, Freemasons and other enemies of the Church, the Catholic Faith of the Apostles must be watered down, and not only Liturgy but all the practices of the Catholic Tradition that are an obstacle to that unity must be eliminated. Hence, we are witnessing the process of the destruction of the Catholic Faith in this present post-Vatican Council II era. What began as "ecumenism" bids fair t o end as apostasy!”

Father Wiktor noted in particular the shameful agreement between the Vatican and the Soviets ensuring the latter the silence of the Second Vatican Council on the issue of communism.
In the February 1979 issue ( (wordpress.com/2016/07/orcm-feb-791.pdf), in a text on Catholic teaching on the death penalty, Father Wiktor exposed the hypocrisy of liberals who fought against it: "Remember too that these "liberals" are the same people who advocate all kinds of antilife measures: sterilization, vasectomy, contraception, homosexuality, abortion-on-demand, etc. It is the most horrendous hypocrisy to call for the destruction of infants in the womb while demanding that murderers should be permitted to live.”
Father Wiktor initially greeted the election of Karol Wojtyła as Pope with optimism, which, however, dissipated after a few months. To the end of his days, he remained faithful to the Tradition of the Church and the traditional Holy Mass in the Roman Rite, relying on the bull Quo primum tempore. He also associated with the priests of the SSPX in the USA – the sermon at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of his Priesthood in 1991, on the role of fidelity in priestly and family life, was delivered by Bishop Richard Williamson. The last rites were administered to Father Mroz by Fr. David Hewko (source: źródło: Verbum, summer 1992, s. 2)
As Father Paweł (Paul) Kramer, a known researcher of the Fatima messages, recalled in his book The Suicide of Altering the Faith in the Liturgy (p. 167),:
“There is a time,” says St. Catherine of Siena, “when those who obey, obey to their own condemnation.” That time has come. Indeed, that time already came just as soon as the Conciliar Church de parted from the apostolic teaching and tradition of the Eternal Rome of SS. Pe ter and Paul — but only a few understood this at the time. One who understood was the late Father Victor Mrosz of Krakow, Poland — a disciple of St. Maximilian Kolbe. Fr. Mrosz related to me that St. Maximilian had admonished him to remain always faithful to Tradition. “The devil,” St. Maximilian said, “has the Bible but he is in Hell. It is Tradition that will bring you to Heaven.” St. Maximilian revealed to Fr. Mrosz in 1939 the number of days remaining in his (Fr. Mrosz’s) life, and thus he knew since then on exactly which day in April 1992 he would be called to his eternal reward. St. Kolbe foretold that Fr. Mrosz would be an outcast in his later years, and the prophecy was fulfilled when Fr. Mrosz was expelled from the Franciscan order and eventually “excommunicated” for refusing to abandon the Tridentine Mass and adopt the Novus Ordo. Fr. Victor, however, re called well the admonition that he had received from the Saint, never to abandon Tradition, and therefore he, in full tranquillity of conscience, continued to publicly exercise his priestly ministry until the day he died…”

"Father Mroz offered Mass for the apostolate workers when Father Gruner was travelling with the Pilgrim Virgin Statue. He recounted his first desire to become a priest. “I was working in the fields with my father and upon telling him of my wish, he responded almost prophetically: ‘Don’t you know, the bowels of hell are lined with the skulls of bishops?” Father Mroz was involved in starting the first underground resistance in Poland – sleeping in forests under severe winter conditions, trading food to starving Russian soldiers in return for weapons. Father would chuckle when he said: “I kept the tommy-gun for myself.” Father Mroz remained faithful to the Traditional Latin Mass and his not-so-surprising ban from the modernist church. He explained, the last straw was when, “I approached the altar to offer Mass and found it filled with pumpkins. I swept my arm abruptly across them, sending them all rolling down the center aisle of the church.”

"According to Fr. victor Mroz, a Franciscan priest and missionary whom I personally interviewed and who became a priest at the insistence of his seminary teacher, St. Maximilian Kolbe, the church that emerged from that Council was "a cesspool." Fr. Mroz was expelled from his order for his refusal to accept that Satanic council and its aftermath. He died in the 1990's while praying the Rosary with Fr. Nicholas Gruner. I attended many of his Masses, and he baptized my fourth child."
