His comment, that he doesn't want to convert young people to Christ and the Church at the August Lisbon World Youth Day (WYD) in Lisbon in August was "taken out of context", neo-Cardinal Américo Aguiar, Lisbon Auxiliary Bishop and president of the said WYD, protested to CatholicNewsAgency.com (July 11).
He then went on to confirm everything, saying that the WYD “has never been, is not, and should not be a proselytising event.” The term "proselytising" is Francis' derogatory word for "evangelising" and "converting."
Aguiar reiterated that the WYD is an “opportunity to get to know and respect each other as brothers” and “for young people to journey together, respecting their diversity.” Everyone knows that this is just blah-blah.

The whole evangelisation vs proselytization thing is mostly an annoying waste of time, because no-one defines the terms. Yes the Church should grow by doing good things & not bad things - But without knowing what people put into each bucket it just doesn't mean anything.
