Gesù era stato preannunciato come l'Emanuele, cioè «Dio-con-noi»; l'Eucaristia ne è il più esplicito adempimento: Dio è con noi al punto da donarsi integralmente, da farsi tutt'uno con noi. L'uomo non è più solo, con le sue paure, in bilico tra tormentosi ricordi e incerte prospettive; si può dire anzi che nell'Eucaristia egli trova il senso del proprio presente, armonicamente collegato al passato e al futuro.
