Quante volte, gli chiese un giorno Pietro, devo perdonare chi mi fa del male? Sette volte? E gli pareva che sette fosse un numero generoso; chissà lo stupore nel sentirsi rispondere: Non sette, ma settanta volte sette. Cioè, sempre. E quando insegnò a pregare, Gesù invitò a chiedere al Padre nostro: "Rimetti a noi i nostri debiti, come noi li rimettiamo ai nostri debitori". Se, verso chi riteniamo ci abbia fatto torto, non siamo disposti a perdonare ma coltiviamo pensieri di vendetta, che sarà di noi se Dio facesse altrettanto nei nostri confronti?
