Today's two parables indicate the preciousness of the Kingdom, comparing it to a hidden treasure or a pearl of incomparable value, which those who are shrewd do everything to get hold of. So many parables, so many hints: but what then is the kingdom of God, and who belongs to it? Collecting these and other indications from the Gospels, one can answer as follows: the kingdom is God's lordship over creation, and those who recognize it (in deeds, that is, by adopting an adequate lifestyle) belong to it.
