The Dominican friars of the Priory of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. are members of the Province of St. Joseph, the Eastern Province of the United States, founded in 1805.

Dominican life at the priory is comprised of the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience, study, and the daily celebration of the Eucharist and the Liturgy of the Hours.

The community is responsible for the intellectual, pastoral, and spiritual formation of the Dominican student brothers preparing to serve the Church in Holy Orders, and supports the work of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception, a Pontifical Faculty of Theology offering the MA, MDiv, STB, and STL degrees.
