The Notre-Dame-de-Pitié chapel in Pulligny, Meurthe-et-Moselle, northeastern France, faces demolition following a municipal safety order issued on August 26. Structural damage worsened and raised fears of collapse. Built in 1868 to designs by architect Léon Vautrin, the Neo-Romanesque and Neo-Gothic chapel was financed by parish priest Abbé Joseph-Pierre Clément and blessed on June 24, 1868. Local authorities closed the surrounding area to traffic and announced plans to demolish the building, while expressing an intention to preserve its bells. However, heritage organization Urgences Patrimoine disputes the necessity of demolition. According to the group, a 2023 assessment by CAUE 54 had already recommended urgent conservation measures, but these were never implemented. No restoration estimate was commissioned before demolition was proposed. Urgences Patrimoine initiated in October a legal challenge, seeking to contest the safety order. Vatican says Summorum Pontificum organizers should have requested prayer inside St Peter's basilica instead of procession. The refusal to authorize the annual Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage procession concerned only the procession itself, Matteo Bruni, director of the Holy See Press Office, told the Substack.com-account 'The Pillar' on October 26. The Secretariat of State’s rejection referred “exclusively to the procession, because that’s ordinarily not allowed, not even for dioceses that come in pilgrimage.” Bruni added: “If the organizers wanted to hold an [alternate] activity such as Eucharistic adoration or prayer, they should’ve made a specific request to that end.” However, the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage had included a procession every October since 2012. The Vatican Press Office has not exactly established a reputation for scrupulous regard for the truth. Picture: Una Voce Sevilla, #newsLucfjpygoo
For the second year running, Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago wants to honour abortion politicians. In 2025, Senator Dick Durbin withdrew following protests by bishops. This year, Michael J. Sacks - who donated $600,000 to an Illinois initiative that provides abortion including at Planned Parenthood - is set to receive the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Nostra Aetate Award on 29 October. Cardinal Cupich has defended the decision. In a statement issued yesterday, he wrote: 'Simply put, honouring individuals who do not share core Catholic teachings recognises their dignity, leadership role, and service to their community, without implying an endorsement of every statement or stance they maintain.'

Una Voce clarifies why traditional Latin Mass pilgrims were denied access to St. Peter’s Basilica. The International Federation Una Voce (FIUV) has issued today a statement correcting misunderstandings surrounding this year’s Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage to Rome. According to FIUV, the Vatican Secretariat of State rejected the organizers’ request to celebrate the traditional Latin Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica in August. The organizers then sought permission for a collective devotion inside the Basilica, as had been permitted in 2023 and 2024 despite the refusal of Mass. That request was also rejected in a letter dated September 30, which reached the organizers only in October. Thus, pilgrims were denied not only Mass in St. Peter’s, but also permission for organized communal prayer inside the Basilica. Meanwhile, permission was granted for a Pontifical Low Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major. Una Voce thanked the Cardinal Archpriest, sacristans, security personnel, and Dominican …Bebree
Full statement “Many members and supporters take part in the pilgrimage and we as an organisation are a member of the Caetus Internationalis Summorum Pontificum; we regard the annual pilgrimage as having great significance for the movement for the Traditional Mass. We would like to correct some misunderstandings which have arisen over the organisation of the pilgrimage this year. The authorities (through the Secretariat of State) declined the Coetus’ request for the celebration of Mass in St Peter’s, in August. At that point it was hoped and assumed that it would nevertheless be possible to have a collective devotion of some kind for the pilgrims, in St Peter’s, as happened in 2023 and 2024 when permission for Mass was refused. The August letter did not rule this out, so the Coetus requested it. This request was refused in a letter dated 30th September, which was however not received by the organisers until well into October. In the meantime permission was sought and gained for a Prelatial …Bebree
MY STORY WITH YOU HAS COME TO AN END. And this time, I’m not saying it out of anger. I’m saying it out of exhaustion—the exhaustion of a woman who spent far too long trying to hold together something that was slowly draining her strength. I have nothing left to prove to you. I’m tired of explaining how I feel, justifying my tears, and pretending certain things don’t hurt me just to avoid another argument. I’m tired of waiting for you. Tired of making excuses for your absence. Tired of seeing your coldness and telling myself that maybe one day you would change. Tired of convincing myself that I needed to be more patient when, in reality, what I needed was to start loving myself more. Because yes… I held on. But today, I understand that many times, I wasn’t holding on to you, but to the person I imagined you could become. I held on to the good memories. To the promises. To the version of our story I wanted to believe in. I placed you on a pedestal and ended up justifying things I should …Bebree

More than 60 Christians have been killed in a series of brutal attacks in Ethiopia’s Oromia region. Armed assailants reportedly raided villages, murdered civilians, and spread fear among Christian communities. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church warns of escalating violence and calls for urgent protection. Regional authorities blamed a rebel alliance that includes the Oromo Liberation Army. Responsibility remains unproven.
