New Archbishop of Cape Town Gave “Collective Absolution” at Ecumenical Gathering: Leo XIV appointed Monsignor Sithembele Anton Sipuka, 65, as Archbishop of Cape Town on January 9. In October 2024, Sipuka had been elected President of the ecumenical body 'South African Council of Churches' (SACC).
At the SACC’s National Day of Prayer in June 2025, the program included a “collective confession of sins.” A woman introducing the segment in the recorded video declared: “Beloved in Christ, let us confess our sins before the Almighty.” The congregation was then led through a national confession, explicitly naming colonialism, apartheid, racism, corruption, violence, and injustice. Participants were instructed to repeat the text aloud together.
Following this confession, Monsignor Sipuka addressed the largely Protestant assembly with words resembling absolution: “And so let us accept the gracious forgiveness of God. Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. That proves God’s love towards us. …Hafa

During the National Day of Prayer ecumenical service in June 2025, held at Grace Bible Church in Soweto, the South African Council of Churches led a collective confession of sins introduced with the words: “Beloved in Christ, let us confess our sins before the Almighty.” The congregation was then guided through a national confession, naming historical and social sins such as colonialism, apartheid, racism, corruption, violence, and injustice. Immediately following this confession, the Catholic Bishop Sipuka declared forgiveness, stating: “By the grace of God and the love of Christ, you are forgiven.”

French Euthanasia Bill Would Force Catholic Institutions to Perform Euthanasia or Close: The European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ), an NGO based in Strasbourg, warns that a proposed French euthanasia law could force Catholic hospitals and nursing homes to perform euthanasia. Refusal could result in the loss of public funding, fines, and even prison sentences for directors. The ECLJ argues that this would constitute a serious violation of freedom of conscience and religion. No other country that has legalized euthanasia imposes such criminal obligations on private institutions.

The French, whether in France, or in Canada, it appears, have a real obsession with euthanasia (by the by, using the many of the 'humane' justifications the inventor of the guillotine used for his invention!). How far the once faithful Daughter of the Church has plummeted.

Cardinal Regrets Continuation of Francis’ Path at Consistory

Today, 170 Cardinals gathered for the first consistory. Pope Leo XIV was flanked in the Synod Hall by his Curia Cardinals, most of whom are pro-homosexual: Tucho (Faith), Mendonça (Education), Grech (Synod), Roche (Liturgy), Baggio (Human Development), and Artime (Religious).
After entering the Synod Hall, English pro-homosexual Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe, 80, delivered a meditation to the Cardinals. The decision to keep him in the same role he held during the Synod on Synodality carries symbolic weight. His speech today was fairly mild. However, just the day before, Cardinal Radcliffe called for the urgent ordination of women as deacons.
The cardinals were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of cardinals under the age of 80. This group was further divided into nine round tables. The second group, consisting of elderly cardinals and the Roman Curia, was divided into eleven round tables.
In the groups, the Cardinals discussed Synodality and Evangelisation.

What did naive nitwits think was going to happen? That the College of Cardinals whom Francis appointed the majority of was going to hold a vote to bring back the Roman Rite? Or even to hold a substantive, rigorous discussion on the issue? Are you kidding?

Lebanon Catholics Petition to Ban DJ Priest’s Night Club Appearance

A group of Catholics in Lebanon have launched a legal bid to prevent an upcoming performance by Portuguese priest Guilherme Peixoto. His "music" blends electronic dance beats with religious imagery. He is scheduled to perform at the AHM nightclub in Beirut on 10 January.
The petitioners have submitted a request to a Beirut summary affairs judge, seeking to halt the concert. They argue that the performance 'undermines church values' and 'misrepresents Christian rituals', citing concerns over a priest performing as a DJ in a nightclub.
However, resorting to the state in such matters is futile. Padre Peixoto is due to preside over a Eucharist in Kaslik on the same day. Supporters rightly argue that his ministry and artistic work are officially recognised by church authorities in many countries.
He also performed at World Youth Day in Lisbon in 2023, just before Pope Francis's Eucharist.

The priest missed his DJ calling. Maybe he can be laicized and do what he has a passion for.

How can the Catholic Church seek unity with other Christian communities by compromising the Word of God and disregarding the divine commandments? Authentic Christian unity can never be built upon the denial of revealed truth or moral absolutes. Ideologies that contradict natural law and divine revelation—such as the normalization of homosexual acts, abortion, contraception, IVF, euthanasia, and attacks against the sacramental nature of the priesthood and the Sacrament of Confession—cannot serve as foundations for true communion.

Roman Rite Not Central Question for Cardinal Müller: “The Church has to discuss how to go on with these questions about the old and the new rite,” Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller told EWTN on January 8: “I think Pope Leo XIV will find a good solution for everybody.” Cardinal Müller believes that this “is not the central question for the Church today.” He added: “We are living in times of secularization and atheism, in some great anti-Christian political systems, and we also face the Woke ideology and a false anthropology, which are absolutely in contradiction to the Christian understanding of human dignity.” Because time was limited at the consistory, he said, the cardinals preferred to speak about these major challenges facing the Church rather than about internal Church matters, he claimed.

Gerhard Müller confirmed to EWTN that the traditional Latin Mass was not discussed in the consistory this week. The cardinals “preferred to speak about the great (external) challenges of the Church and not so much aspects inside the Church”

The Cave of Saint Michael in Monte Sant'Angelo...

The footprint of Saint Michael the Archangel in the Cave of Monte Sant'Angelo (also known as the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo) is a revered rock impression preserved within the sacred grotto in Puglia, Italy. Legend holds that the Archangel left this mark during his apparitions around 490-493 AD, consecrating the site himself without human intervention, making it a unique pilgrimage destination. The print is visible behind a glass encasement near the rear altar, symbolizing his presence and promise of protection and forgiveness.[5]
## Location Details
The cave lies deep within Monte Sant'Angelo, accessible via 86 stone steps descending from the basilica above. Pilgrims like St. Francis of Assisi visited, carving a Tau cross nearby out of reverence without entering fully. The site forms part of the "Sword of Saint Michael," a mystical line connecting seven Michael shrines across Europe to Israel.[3][4][5]

Program for Leo XIV’s Consistory – "Working Groups" Like the Synod

On 7–8 January, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the first extraordinary consistory of his pontificate. Time is short and the cardinals are many.
Day One: Opening and First Session
Registration will begin at noon on 7 January in the atrium of the Paul VI Hall.
After a welcome coffee, proceedings will not begin until 3:30 p.m. in the New Synod Hall with communal prayer, followed by greetings from the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.
Leo XIV will then deliver an introductory address and outline the work to be undertaken.
Three Sessions Over Two Days
The consistory is structured in three sessions over two days and will rely on small working groups, which will later present group reports.
This method was previously used during the meeting of cardinals on the reform of the Roman Curia in late summer 2022. Traditionally, a consistory was conducted in a plenary, centralized format, quite different from the small-group method now being used.

"If primitive humanity knows so well, better than modern or contemporary humanity, what is absolutely necessary for the life of Man on Earth, such as manual work, the necessary elevation of human beings beyond animals or the tension towards the divine, it is in no way unaware of science, which for it flows quite naturally and as it should, from the observations and empirical data collected over time. Traditional humanity has, in terms of science, its medicine, more precisely its medicines, its systems of management of the earth, of the animal and plant kingdoms, its sciences of man and human relations, its approaches to life, its cosmologies, which modern humanity has taken the habit of often wrongly looking down on, or even ignoring. Madrid Cardinal Entrusts Homosexual Lobby Group to Indoctrinate Priestly Seminary

The Spanish homosexual lobby group Crismhom held training sessions at the priestly seminary of Madrid, InfoVaticana.com reported on January 8.
The Archbishop of Madrid is Cardinal José Cobo.
The formation program consisted of a twelve-hour course held on 7 November, 14 November, and 5 December 2025.
The sessions were led by Rev. Jesús Sastre García, a priest of the Archdiocese of Madrid and the spiritual director of Crismhom. His written work includes an article on “Accompanying young people,” with special attention to homosexual youth. According to InfoVaticana, he defends sodomy as a way of expressing human love.
At the session held on 14 November, Crismhom's pastoral and anthropological deviations were presented in a favourable light. References to liberation theology were also made and proposed as a preferred pastoral framework.
Following the completion of the sessions, several deacons reportedly expressed their objections to the rector of the seminary, Rev. Antonio Secilla …Hafa
