If freedom is seen as a value to be preserved, it’s better to have a form of government that favors governmental inaction, which used to be the strength of the American system. All of these “parliamentary democracies” are set up to always have a government that is able to pass legislation, though coalition governments are not the result of the people’s will. I don’t favor the founding philosophy of the United States necessarily, but having a government that is only able to act when a super majority of the Senate consents to the action is definitely a recipe for greater accountability than forming a government of disparate parties that holds a narrow majority, but can basically do whatever they want.
